Stone Needle in NJ still there - for Kilroy

I went out to check on The stone Needle's new location and it's AOK.
The last bearing is due east (90 degrees). The paces are 2 steps and
the declination is 13 degrees west. Better luck next time.

Ahhh, here's a chance to reopen the topic of ... is it necessary to know
and adjust for declination when only using a compass.

It's my box and I'll use any directions I want. The explanation is
included. What do you mean by, "only using a compass"? Do you mean
using a compass w/o a declination setting or scale? If you're trying
to go 90d with a regular compass simply go 103d instead in an area
with a 13d west declination. Any placer using true bearings should
always give the declination with the clues.

Oops, sorry. You're absolutely right, it is your box and you may use any
directions you choose. I think this subject was pretty well covered
recently, and there's no need to reopen it ... is there?.
